The Search Continues

The search for passion in fitness continues - although the blogging posts are low in number, the fitness routine continues to increase.  However, the search for passion continues.  A typical morning begins about 3:30 am in preparation for the pool/gym then on to the workday.  Today was no exception, at the pool/gym by about 5:15 am.  The pool was busy so spent time in the sauna and steam room in mental preparation for the day, then to the the pool.  Once in the pool, 1 lap, rest, two laps, rest and so forth for about 15 minutes then the last fifteen minutes I finished strong.  The fitness is coming and the passion will lag.

Passion begins with an urge

Nearly one week has past since my last post - okay I got busy trying to maintain balance and pursue passion.  First of all - Success Tuesday and Thursday - 30 minutes straight out crawl and it felt good.  Tuesday was a force - both whirlpool and steam room shut down so lap pool was the only option.  Today I was ready for the lap pool and the 30 minutes went rather quickly.  Pace was relaxed but a decent work out.  I'm feeling the urge to hit the road with the sneakers, maybe Saturday will carry sufficient moto.

Have a great - go find your PASSION !

I was asked - what is your bucket list?  never thought about it but a young person indicated to me that I should have a bucket list.  Maybe she is right.

Welcome Friday!  Although I was up at the usual (roughly) time 0430 - I rarely follow a clock precisely as I consider it a guide not a master, I found my routine was disrupted with "need to" do tasks.  It is good and bad to build in a buffer which is primarily set aside for achieving fitness goals as it is easy to let them slide however today I didn't feel as though I was simply skipping the work out because I didn't want to work out.  Quite the contrary, I missed the work out which is part of regaining the passion. In days long past I recall REALLY missing work outs.  Today was more of a gentle feeling but the good part it wasn't a feel of joy that I missed it.  I was think of ways I may still be able to fit the work out into today's routine.  I'll see what Friday brings.  Have a great weekend with Joaquin.

One week ago I started to blog about rekindling the passion for things I love to do.  Decades of overfilled schedules, artificial demands and other stuff simply pushed out the things which I was passionate about.  Sometimes the pressure has come from things and events which I thought I had little control and other times it came from my own action seeking something else.  In other words, simply over complicating life.  Now for a few years, simplification has been the goal.

One way we have found to simply is to consider the following situations - 1.  don't get it (or do it) if you can't afford it and (2) don't get it even if you can afford it but don't really need it and likely don't even want it.  These two principles can apply to a purchase with money or time.  Too often we don't consider the expenditure of time however time is truly the only non-renewable resource that we have while on this planet.

The week has definitely slow leading up to today - Wednesday, I didn't even show up at the gym rather I slept an extra hour - ugh.  Note to self - don't do that again.  Tuesday - I made some feeble attempt at the gym but don't really remember at this point the extent of the workout.

The good note is that the week is not a total loss.  The good news is I totally rocked it this morning.  Feeling better this morning than I have in a very long time.  Oooo-rah!  Up at 0430, dressed and out the door before 0500.  Had to unwrap the bike from the rain storm so took a few minutes longer but on the road by 0505.  In the lap pool at 0558 and did straight up 30 minutes of crawl - stroke was good, breathing good and I felt great leaving the pool and ready to eat rocks for breakfast.  The passion is coming back slowly - just push through the rough times.

Day Three into Passion is Everything - i'm not yet passionate enough to blog on saturday and sunday.  also i dont yet consider those days available to work out either however i do plenty of work on those days (or at least saturday).  today was a very tough start even though i was up at my usual 4:15 am, I was tired and only motivated by the fact that I must work to survive and that aspect would have gotten worse if I had not pushed myself through the wee hours of the morning.  So off on the BMW CL1200 in the 43 degrees F weather to the gym I go with a slightly late arrival time of 5:45 am, showered and into the whirlpool by 6 am.  From the looks of the lane pool, a lot of other people were feeling the effects of the blood moon as well.  I stretched and moaned in the whirlpool watching the lane swimmers in hopes that I might muster enough energy to follow the few brave swimmers - the number was few - only 6 then 5.  When the number went to 5, I thought to myself, in my prime I would die to have a lane to myself and here I lay lounging in the whirlpool like some lizard on a hot rock.  Well enough self talk and I manage to talk myself into just doing a few laps - at least 2 to get some blood pumping.

At the side of the pool with calves dangling in the water, I felt the extreme temperature difference from the whirlpool to lap pool.  At my age, I consider the possibility of a heart attack so I allow the legs to adjust, then slide the thighs into the water, then splash water onto the arms and finally make the plunge.  First lap felt really good - not super fast, but the stroke was really on point.  first flip turn felt strong so went the next few laps for a total of 1/3 mile in about 7 minutes and I called it a day.  The way I see it is that I added just a small pebble of Gold in my passion hope chest.  Hope for tomorrow and a chance to move a bit closer to regaining the fire in the belly.  Go out and make it a great day.  OOooooooo-rah!

P.S.  Hopefully the extra serving of NAKED Green Machine smoothie will give the added punch for the day.

Have you been around the block enough times to recall "I remember a time when I loved to do X, but today it seems like drudgery?  Well I had this experience this more while, well I'll say attending the gym.  Thirty years ago I recall the love of running and swimming for hours on end everyday.  I simply could not get enough of these activities.  I ran for hours, miles upon miles and never seemed to tire of the activity then I would hit the swimming pool and swim for another hour.  In my free time, I'd run basketball.  Needless to say, my body Chemistry was different in my late 20's as to now thirty years later.

However I recall gaining this passion in my mid-20's and before that time I simply couldn't imagine having a passion for this level of fitness.  This recollection is what drives me to ask the question, "Where do I go to regain the passion?"

While I consider running and swimming the object of this discussion, if I simply addressed gaining a passion for these two events I think I would very much miss the point.  Really I want this blog to address any passion.  Passion can be physical, mental, spiritual or emotional so I'm seek to identify, explore and recapture the drive.
