Day Three into Passion is Everything - i'm not yet passionate enough to blog on saturday and sunday. also i dont yet consider those days available to work out either however i do plenty of work on those days (or at least saturday). today was a very tough start even though i was up at my usual 4:15 am, I was tired and only motivated by the fact that I must work to survive and that aspect would have gotten worse if I had not pushed myself through the wee hours of the morning. So off on the BMW CL1200 in the 43 degrees F weather to the gym I go with a slightly late arrival time of 5:45 am, showered and into the whirlpool by 6 am. From the looks of the lane pool, a lot of other people were feeling the effects of the blood moon as well. I stretched and moaned in the whirlpool watching the lane swimmers in hopes that I might muster enough energy to follow the few brave swimmers - the number was few - only 6 then 5. When the number went to 5, I thought to myself, in my prime I would die to have a lane to myself and here I lay lounging in the whirlpool like some lizard on a hot rock. Well enough self talk and I manage to talk myself into just doing a few laps - at least 2 to get some blood pumping.
At the side of the pool with calves dangling in the water, I felt the extreme temperature difference from the whirlpool to lap pool. At my age, I consider the possibility of a heart attack so I allow the legs to adjust, then slide the thighs into the water, then splash water onto the arms and finally make the plunge. First lap felt really good - not super fast, but the stroke was really on point. first flip turn felt strong so went the next few laps for a total of 1/3 mile in about 7 minutes and I called it a day. The way I see it is that I added just a small pebble of Gold in my passion hope chest. Hope for tomorrow and a chance to move a bit closer to regaining the fire in the belly. Go out and make it a great day. OOooooooo-rah!
P.S. Hopefully the extra serving of NAKED Green Machine smoothie will give the added punch for the day.

Have you been around the block enough times to recall "I remember a time when I loved to do X, but today it seems like drudgery? Well I had this experience this more while, well I'll say attending the gym. Thirty years ago I recall the love of running and swimming for hours on end everyday. I simply could not get enough of these activities. I ran for hours, miles upon miles and never seemed to tire of the activity then I would hit the swimming pool and swim for another hour. In my free time, I'd run basketball. Needless to say, my body Chemistry was different in my late 20's as to now thirty years later.
However I recall gaining this passion in my mid-20's and before that time I simply couldn't imagine having a passion for this level of fitness. This recollection is what drives me to ask the question, "Where do I go to regain the passion?"
While I consider running and swimming the object of this discussion, if I simply addressed gaining a passion for these two events I think I would very much miss the point. Really I want this blog to address any passion. Passion can be physical, mental, spiritual or emotional so I'm seek to identify, explore and recapture the drive.
